Attempting potty training...

Sometime in mid-December I casually started putting Crew on the potty and to my surprise he started using it (and I mean #1 and #2!).  At the time, I couldn't believe he was actually going on it.  Well, I wasn't 100% fully prepared the day I started...for example I didn't have "big boy" underwear and I only had one training potty.  I also decided that it maybe wasn't the best time to start because it was right before all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays so I decided to hold off until the new year.

Well, we are almost at the end of January and I decided I better get my butt in gear and give it 100%!  We started last Friday (Jan. 21st) because I knew I had four full days before we had anything going on.  So far it hasn't been horrible, but it hasn't been great.  Of course he has had accidents, but he has also been going on the potty too.  He won't say potty, but he will go to it sometimes.  The other times I am always anticipating him needing to go.  He does a really good job at being able to "hold it" but then when he does pee on the potty and we think he is finished, we put his big boy underwear back on and then they are wet 10 minutes later because he didn't completely empty his bladder (one of the biggest problems).  Also, I have noticed he isn't going #2 as much and therefore has gotten a little constipated (Crew has never had this problem before)..this was a problem last night and no fun for anyone!  So very long story short we are still trying, but if it doesn't get a little better this week we might hold off for another month and then try again!
In more exciting news...we booked a trip to Florida for the end of February and we are soooo excited...we CANNOT wait to get out of this AWFUL weather and hit the beach!  Bonita Beach here we come!

Lunch and a haircut...

Tuesday we were meeting one of my friends for lunch...since we were all ready going to be out and about (in the freezing cold weather) I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get Crew's first professional haircut!  I have been triming Crewsie's hair for a while now, but I never could get it perfect and it was growing out pretty uneven.  We were meeting for lunch in Stow/Hudson area and there is this cute little kids salon called 'Snip-its!'...unfortunately, they are closed on Tuesdays...insert "Debbie Downer" sound effect.  So I ended up finding this little salon and the girl did great.  She had a couple little kids of her own, so she was very patient and understanding.
These shots were from the morning...while I was getting ready, Crewsie was lounging on our bed.
 It started off pretty good...
To distract him, I let him play with the camera
Notice he is wiping at his mouth...he was acting like he had a mouth full of hair...DRAMA QUEEN!
The last five minutes were pretty bad...he hated when she went around his ears with the scissors!
After lunch he passed out after being in the car for about 30 seconds...a haircut and lunch can really wear you out!
One of him at dinner after I spiked his hair up with some gel...what a cutie pie!  He looks so grown-up with his new 'do!

My little pirate fightin', sombrero wearin', pancake eatin', doggie lovin' boy...

Here are a bunch of miscellaneous pictures from the last week.  Above:  Although, Crew was wearing his pirate costume from Halloween I told him we were fighting the bad pirates...he thought his Grinch would help scare them away!  Below:  Last Sunday Uncle Blake and Aunt Casey arrived home from Mexico and suprised Crewsie with an awesome sombrero!  Thanks Uncle Blake and Aunt Casey :)
Crew's new 'thing' is sitting up in Yaya and Popa's window...kind of scary!  He is definitely all boy and not afraid of ANYTHING (except Santa!)!  hahaha!
I just love him in his p.j.'s!
Sunday, we went to Yaya and Popa's for a pancake breakfast....Crewsie loves his Mickey pancakes!
Sometimes I feel like he grew up overnight!?!  Below:  Hangin with Chloe...he loves doggies!
We call her "Chlo Bo" or "Bo, Bo" ...so now Crew is saying "Bo, Bo!"

Oldies, but goodies...

I hate to go longer than a week without posting something to the blog, so here you have it...some oldies from January 2010!  I still can't believe some of these pictures are from last year...they seem like just a couple of months ago!

We have trying to keep busy during these cold winter days, but sometimes this Momma definitely gets the "winter blues."  I LOVE being outside in the yard or going for walks so it's kind of depressing being inside so much lately.  We have all of Crew's winter gear, but it is just toooooo darn cold for the little man to be outside for any amount of time.  Crew and I  have stayed busy this week with our second swim lesson (Crew absolutely loves the water and has no fear...more on this next week!), Mother Goose program and tomorrow I think we will head to Romp n' Stomp!  I haven't taken any pics this week, so I will try to get some next week of Crewsie during some of his activities.  Hope everyone has a great weekend =)

In keeping with the "theme" of this post I have added some new music...Oldies like The Temptations, Chuck Berry and Ben E. King...'Stand By Me' is one of my most favorite songs!  My dad listened to Oldies all of the time while we where growing up and I still LOVE music from this era!  It is by far my favorite music and I wish I could go back in time and see what life was like then.  Tay, Blake and I would always 'help' my dad wash the cars, be playing in the backyard or twirling our batons in the family room (we have proof of all of this via our home movies!) while we would listen to The Drifters, Elvis, The Beatles, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Marvin Gaye, The Righteous Brothers, The Platters, or the Four Seasons...just to name a few of our favorites!  So here are a handful of some of my favorites...

Gotta love Johnny B. Goode!

I used to love dancing to Chantilly Lace when I was little.  I would be dressed in my trademark (a 'trademark' is a white undershirt that I used to wear all of the time...I need to try and find a picture of me in one...not sure why we called it a 'tradmark?!" and a red pleated skirt with leg warmers and twirling my baton all while my Dad was video taping me...haha!  Makes me want to go pop in an old home movie!
La Bamba was one of my favorites when I was little...it was the first cassette tape I had!  I know that Crew will never understand what a cassette was...makes me feel old!

And finally my ALL TIME FAVORITE...'Unchained Melody' by the Righteous Brothers...how could you not love this song!?!?

Last year during his first swim lessons...amazing how much he has grown!
 My little sleeping prince!
Before he was running all over the house...at this point he was pulling himself up, but not walking!
Those chubby, chubby legs are getting skinnier!
I can't tell you how much we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this little boy!

Another video of Crew dancing to Bruno...just makes me laugh!

I believe this one is from last weekend...he now has added the guitar and sometimes a microphone...now all he needs is a fidora and he will be just like Bruno....hahaha!

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes...Knees and Toes!

It's never too late, right?!  I found this video of Crew from November 30th...I uploaded it to YouTube and had it saved in my drafts and realized that I never posted it to our blog.  It was only a little over a month ago, but he seems so much more grown up in just that short amount of time!  His language skills have greatly improved over the last month as well...if he is in the right mood he will pretty much try to repeat anything you say to him...it is pretty funny to watch him try to form the words!  Enjoy!

Crew the photographer...

These pictures CRACK ME UP!  The other night I was taking a few pics of Crew and he wasn't very happy.  So he decided to turn the camera on me!  He kept grabbing at the camera so I eventually gave in.  I didn't think that he would even be able to press the button down enough to take the pictures, but he proved me wrong!  Just thought that I would share this funny moment :)

In other Crewsie news:  he starts swim lessons again tonight!  He will be in the shrimp class...hahaha! I have a feeling he will be one of the biggest shrimps!?!?  I also signed him up for the Mother Goose class again at the library. December was a busy month with the holidays and it was nice because Daddy, Yaya, and Auntie Tay were off the last couple of weeks, but now everyone is back to work :(   I need some activities to keep us busy through the next couple of winter months!

I love how you can see his chubby little finger on the lens!  haha!
They are all out of focus, but still very funny!  He was laughing too!
And one of the wall...

New Year's Eve!

New Year's Eve was spent shooting pool, playing darts and hanging out at Uncle Joejoe and Aunt Taytay's house!  There house is so much fun because there is soooo much to do!  New Year's Eve we had warm weather (55 degrees!).  So you could even be outside a little bit that night!  Crew had so much fun too!  He made it until about ten o'clock and then we went home...Daddy made it until about 11:45 and  Mommy watched the ball drop in the comfort of our bed!  haha!

Goodbye 2010...HELLO 2011!!!
Uncle Blake and Auntie Casey left for MEXICO Sunday...they better be drinking lots of Tequila Boom Booms!!!!
 Crew sucking on a lime...what a stinker!
Dan (Uncle Joes Dad!) and Blake enjoying the fire!
Crewsie all of a sudden looks so grown up!
 Entranced by Bruno once again........

HAPPY NEW YEAR! It can't really be 2011, can it!?!?

Okay, so I know I didn't post any new pics, but I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year!  We spent New Year's Eve at Uncle Joe and Aunt Tay's and I will post pics soon!  I re-vamped the blog again and updated our songs!  If you turn your volume up you will hear that I added some Bruno Mars songs (for Crew of course!).  I added some of our favorites (I added 'Somewhere in Brooklyn' for you Uncle Blake!).  I wanted to add my favorite Cee Lo Green song, but Greg said it was a little inappropriate...hahaha!  Now you will be able to hear the songs that Crew loves listening and dancing to!

Just an FYI:  This is my first post of 2011, but my 385th post since I started this blog (it will be two years in March!). I LOVE so much that I started this online journal for Crew and our family (I have to thank Ashley for turning me on to blogging!)  You forget so much in such a short time, so it is great to be able to look back and see what Crew was doing at certain ages and stages!
