Christmas at home...

I know Christmas was more than a month ago, but I'm still trying to catch up here on the blog!  So many cute pics to post and so little time!  haha!  This was Christmas morning at our house...24 hours after we brought Capri home from the hospital.  What a WONDERFUL Christmas morning it was :)

In love...

Crew is absolutely head over heels in love with Capri. It amazes me that he fell in love with her as fast as we did! He just can't get enough...always wanting to cuddle with her, hold her or smell her head! Haha!

Cabin fever...

We have been locked in the house for almost five weeks now!!! Can you say cabin fever?!?! We haven't gone anywhere unless it is to our parents homes...we were told by the pediatrician (and by our own choice) to avoid restaurants, grocery stores, and the general public because of all of the nasty viruses going around. I have felt terribly guilty keeping Crew cooped up...he is so used to being on the go with me! So yesterday mommy surprised him with his bounce house blown up in the basement! He had a ball and was able to release some energy! Some of the other pics...Crewsie feeding Isla a bottle (which he loved doing!) breakfast in bed at Yayas, and a pic if the littlest chunk!

Capri's birth story...

Ok, here we go....Capri's birth story!  It's been almost a month and I know if I don't get this down soon I will forget half of what happened!

It all started around midnight on Friday, December 21st (technically it was very, VERY early morning on the 22nd).  I woke up and felt a REAL contraction...I definitely knew it was not a braxton hicks contraction.  They were about 15 minutes apart.  I timed them for about an hour and then must have fallen back asleep.  Woke back up around 2:00 a.m. and contractions were 10 minutes apart.  I sat there timing them and they slowly got closer and closer together and I was starting to get a little nervous!  I was induced with Crew four days after my due date so I had no idea what it felt like to go into labor on my own.  And we had just scheduled my induction this week for December 27th!  Anyway....I quickly downloaded a contraction timing app to my iphone to keep track.  They got down to 5 minutes apart so I decided I should probably wake Greg up because my OB said to get to the hospital when they were 5 minutes apart!  I woke Greg and of course he got mad at me because I didn't wake him sooner and he slightly panicked!  I told him to calm down and I wanted to lay there a little longer and keep timing them.  Well, they were consistently 5-6 minutes apart and Greg said it is time to call the doctor...I did and he said go to the hospital!  We called Yaya to come over to the house around 4:00 a.m. and we got to the hospital a little before 5:00 a.m. (see clock in pic above!)

I got checked into OB triage and they hooked me up to monitor the baby and my contractions...and wouldn't you know my contractions started to get further apart and were very inconsistent!  AHHHHH!  I was a little frustrated...so I got up and started walking around to speed things up.  Well, it really didn't help much and after being there for 3 hours I was not progressing.  The doc said I was in latent labor and that I needed to go home until my contractions got stronger and more consistent again.  I'm not kidding when I say as soon as I got in the car I started getting much stronger contractions again.  We decided to just get home and see what happened.  As soon as I walked in the door I started feeling VERY uncomfortable.  I remember having contractions with Crew, but since I was induced and in the hospital already I got my epidural pretty quick, so I didn't really feel much of the labor.  I sat on the couch for a couple hours and my contractions were getting WAY, WAY stronger and were back to being 5 minutes apart....so we headed back to the hospital!

We get there (and once again I'm not kidding) and my contractions were only 10-15 minutes apart.  I sat there for another couple hours and bounced on a yoga ball.  My contractions started getting very intense and I had dilated a little more so they admitted me around 1:00 pm.  As soon as I got in the labor and delivery room my contractions started to get out of control!  They were every 2-3 minutes and were lasting 1-2 minutes.  Let's just say I was ready for my epidural!  It's not like the pain is so bad that you can't handle it, but all I remember wanting to do was push on something to release the pressure.  Every contraction I pushed on the bed rails and remember wanting something at my feet to want to press against.  It was about 45 minutes of paperwork (signing paperwork while having contractions is fun! sense the sarcasm!?) and waiting for blood work to come back before I saw the anesthesiologist.  Also, it's not so fun getting an epidural while having contractions 2 minutes apart!  But ohhhhhhh did I feel good after that!  I was home free and never felt an ounce of pain after that wonderful doc visited me!  They ended up having to put me on a little pitocin because the epidural slowed my labor.  After a few hours of pitocin the doc came in and checked me and said I was "complete" and ready to push!  YAY!  Daddy and Aunt Tay were in the room with me just like with Crewsie.  I pushed for a total of 10 minutes and Daddy delivered our sweet baby girl (Yes, Greg was the one that helped pull Capri out!), Capri Nikole Eddy, was born at 7:04 p.m.!!!  She came out screaming and screamed for about an hour after she was born!  My births with Crew and Capri could not have gone any more smoothly and I fell incredibly lucky and blessed that I have had such wonderful experiences with both of my babies.  It is not lost on me how many people struggle or have issues, so for my experience I am tremendously grateful.

Crewsie was the first to see her and he held his ears the entire time because she was so loud!  When he left he went back out to the waiting room where everyone else was waiting and he announced that "She's out! She's out!!!"  I wish so bad someone would have been video taping!!!  He is such a character.  Our families all took turns visiting, I had dinner, and then I was moved to my post partum room.  We were there for two nights and got discharged Christmas Eve morning.  It was the best, most blessed Christmas yet to have our two little angels at home!

Love my little sissy and so happy she was there...even though we sprung it on her last second!  haha!
